Transforming Programme WP9 - C – Interoperable production systems

The first objective of this transformative project is to develop intelligent and resilient decision-support solutions for internal logistics operations that holistically monitor, track and automate all phases of the product, from the receipt of raw materials, through the processes of feeding them into the production lines and storing the components, to the processes of shipping the finished product.

At a second level, advanced production systems based on industrial robotics and mobile robotics will be explored, capable of carrying out their tasks autonomously, collaboratively and optimally. Considering that the human operator will continue to be the most flexible and intelligent asset operating in the production system, there is also a need for intelligent information and knowledge management platforms, interconnected with augmented reality solutions that allow information to be made available at the right time and to the right person, reducing non-production times. The aim is also to introduce new quality inspection products and services using image processing and artificial intelligence, which will make it possible to guarantee traceability and quality analysis for all the products produced, and along the entire production line, in order to maximize customer satisfaction and reduce waste.

In order to ensure that the demonstrators run smoothly, the aim is to demonstrate the importance of platforms for sensing and monitoring production systems, collecting data in real time from machines on the shop floor and calculating performance indicators. The aim of this project will be to demonstrate the importance of exploring integrating technologies based on IoT, 5G and digital twin capable of guaranteeing the correct digitization and management of information at the various decision-making levels. This modeled information will serve as the basis for creating training content, as well as supporting production and maintenance processes based on augmented reality mechanisms.
