Transforming Programme WP8 - C – Interoperable production systems

Manufacturing companies using production technologies face the challenge of achieving high levels of operational and environmental performance while maintaining very short lead times to meet highly dynamic demand. Producers of production technologies also face the challenge of developing equipment and software solutions applicable to SMEs and scalable to larger companies, which can accommodate high product mix and demand fluctuations without compromising operational and environmental efficiency, along with a constant upgrade to the digitalization and IoT environment (ensuring high performance in communication and data processing systems).

This project connects the challenges and needs of these two types of companies, making a decisive contribution to the Reindustrialization of Europe, involving the demonstration of high-performance Visual, Digital, Autonomous and Sustainable production systems, based on the digitalization of processes and autonomous and mobile robotic systems, with the aim of minimizing waste (operational, energy and material) and guaranteeing operational excellence. The solutions will be demonstrated in an adapted industrial context and with other safety measures. Three Portuguese companies will validate and demonstrate their innovative products to increase their competitiveness in:

i) Adaptable and intelligent internal logistics solutions enabling the automation and optimized management of logistics missions for manufacturing processes on all scales - micro-production and mass production, indoor and outdoor;

ii) Software with MachineLearning capabilities, Visual Management based on Lean Six Sigma and MSM-Multi-Stream Mapping in an IoT and cloud-based environment.
