Transforming Programme WP6 - B – Adaptive, collaborative and competitive production

With the growing trend towards "low volume - high mix" production, there is an increasing need to find more flexible and adaptive automation solutions. As a rule, traditional automation only proves profitable on production lines with high cadences and little product variability. And where any change made to the product, or the need to add new ones, has a major impact in terms of costs and downtime.

The aim of this project is to tackle this problem by developing compact, flexible, self-supporting and easily programmable and parameterized end-of-line robot solutions. In addition, it is recognized that, especially in this type of framework focused on flexibility and the ability to adjust production, it is crucial to ensure timely action on production assets.

This transformative project also aims to develop tools for managing and monitoring industrial equipment, reporting on its status and thus facilitating its management, both in terms of operation and maintenance. Furthermore, through the products developed, the aim is to implement a business model based on servitization applied to end-of-line activities, namely packaging and palletizing ("Packaging As-A-Service"), making technological access even easier for smaller companies. With the creation of flexible and adaptive robotic solutions, offered as a service, it will be possible to make national companies more competitive and agile in an increasingly dynamic global market.
