Transforming Programme WP16 - E – Resource and Energy efficiency and renewables

The vision of Industry-UP is the development of a holistic operational and retrofit framework applicable to new and existing industrial equipment to achieve dynamic utilization and maintenance with up-to-date corrective actions for sustainability. The Industry-UP solution will be demonstrated in an industrial environment, materialized in 5 case studies: (1) CNC equipment, (2) Plastic forming equipment for metallic materials, (3) leather processing equipment, (4) Stone cutting equipment, (5) Internal logistics system, to achieve (i) greater efficiency, (ii) extension of useful life and (iii) greater return on capital investments.

The Industry-UP project will offer a scalable platform that covers the entire life cycle, from the configuration of digital twins, reuse, recovery, recycling and repair during the design and use cycle of equipment. In-situ repair technologies and the redesign of new upgraded components will be facilitated through virtual simulations to increase the performance and lifespan of industrial equipment.

The Industry-UP transformer project will therefore include new hardware and software components interfaced with current installations through IoT solutions and data management platforms, while being orchestrated through scalable strategies at component, workstation and shop floor level. Retrofit, upgrade and recycling actions will be structured and formalized in special protocols, linked to an industrial "digital thread" weaving seamless digital integration with all actors in the value chain for future iterations.
