Transforming Programme WP15 - E – Resource and Energy efficiency and renewables

There are several challenges facing the Circularity of Materials, giving rise to a more accelerated transition from the Linear Economic model to the Circular Economy model.

Based on the combined results of the MAESTRI and PRODUTECH SIF-PPS3 projects, which included innovative modules in an integrated manner in 4 main areas: (i) Solutions for the Evaluation of Energy Efficiency and Other Resources and the Evaluation of Eco-efficiency; (ii) Process Management Approaches, based on Lean principles; (iii) IoT platform and intelligent connectors; (iv) Approaches that facilitate Industrial Symbiosis.

Digital4Circular intends to include new modules with a view to implementing circular practices and, above all, to develop the different modules listed above for demonstration in an industrial environment, with a strong emphasis on the adoption of widespread digitization of processes and the inclusion of i4.0 technologies, as effective levers for the effective use of evaluation and decision support tools.

The main results of the project will be:

(i) Development of an innovative platform - CircProsys - for assessing the circularity of materials and processes, in a value chain logic;

(ii) Development of flexible and customizable solutions for the classification and separation of materials and by-products, which enhance circularity and industrial symbiosis.

(iii) Demonstration of integrated resource efficiency and eco-efficiency assessment modules that support related R-Imperatives to improve circularity;

(iv) Implementation and demonstration of extensive digitalization solutions that leverage adequate monitoring of resource consumption and support the collection of key data for analysis;

(v) Development of innovative change management and transformation strategies for SMEs, based on current Lean & Green 4.0 solutions
