Technological Solutions for the Decarbonization of the Manufacturing Industry

Description
Tech4Decard aims to respond to market gaps and accelerate, through methodologies, tools and technologies, the carbon neutrality of industrial processes and their energy self-sufficiency based on local production of renewable-based thermal and electrical energy and the use of renewable gases such as green hydrogen.
Based on this general objective, the following specific objectives are to be achieved:
(i) Defining Sectoral Roadmaps for Carbon Neutrality in the Manufacturing Industry;
(ii) Promote the direct integration of low-cost, high-efficiency renewable energies (concentrated solar thermal) to directly supply heat to low and medium temperature industrial thermal processes (low and medium exergy) - predominant in industry;
(iii) Developing and implementing energy storage systems to increase flexibility in industrial energy demand;
(iv) Developing technologies for supplying heat to industrial processes using renewable gases (particularly hydrogen), with the resulting efficiency and economic benefits;
(v) Developing technologies, facilitating tools and business models to promote the implementation of industrial symbiosis projects (with a focus on the recovery and reuse of waste heat);
(vi) Develop advanced tools and sensors for thermal energy management with a view to optimizing industrial thermal processes from the point of view of energy costs and reducing the carbon footprint;
(vii) Demonstrate a carbon-neutral production line pilot unit;
(viii) Develop a technological platform to promote the use of biomass in industry.
