Transformer Project - Quality 4.0 Solutions for the Optimization and Use of Resources in the Packaging, Cork and Food sectors
The main objective of WP7 – Q4All is the development of intelligent systems for the industry, allowing the monitoring of production through quality control systems. To achieve this objective, this work package proposes the creation of four products, inserted in three distinct sectors: metal packaging (PPS18), food (PPS19 and 21) and cork (PPS20).
Within the framework of PPS18, the aim is to develop an adaptable quality control tool for flexible packaging systems. This system is currently in the assembly phase at INTROSYS facilities, with the base structure already completed, preparing for its installation in the factory. Improvements are being implemented as a result of the functionality and robustness tests carried out. The iSent® software, the result of validation work carried out in a pre-demonstrator, in which INTROSYS tested the inspection algorithms before proposing the final solution, will be integrated into this system. In addition, INESC TEC's partners are carrying out a study for the installation of sensors in the COLEP factory, with the aim of relating the quality control data from iSent® with the sensory data of production, in order to enable the analysis of trends and patterns. PPS19 and PPS21 are complementary solutions. PPS19 aims to develop a system for optimizing resources and ensuring integrity in the food sector, which will communicate directly with PPS21 – a real-time intelligent factory data management platform. This product consists of three modules: the acquisition module, which, like the PPS18, is in the assembly phase for installation in the factory and respective functionality and robustness tests;
The exclusion module is in the material procurement phase, and the packaging module is currently in the concept closing phase. At the same time, the iSent® software was developed, which will be integrated into the procurement module for the first factory integration. As far as the PPS21 is concerned, the MUVU team has already carried out the integration of sensors for monitoring production data on the target machine. Joint work is underway with the company responsible for integrating the MES into the factory (and MES work is not included in the scope of the application). This integration will allow the iSent® software to obtain the necessary production information for the inspection of the final product, as well as allow MUVU to correlate the machine data with the results of the inspection system, facilitating the analysis of trends and patterns in the RAILES platform.
Regarding PPS20, the objective is to create a resource optimization system for the production of high-quality cork articles. The developed solution is in the integration phase of the proposed hardware solution with the drilling machine supplied by WFS CORK. The target equipment is located at the INTROSYS facility, which will speed up factory integration. With regard to the software, initial efforts were made to collect a dataset that allows to emulate human behavior in the selection of the ideal locations for drilling, and algorithms were developed for the detection of the optimal drilling sites, in order to optimize the drilling process. Subsequently, these algorithms will be integrated into the iSent® software for controlling the drilling machine.
