PRODUTECH R3 Mobilizing Agenda presents the Cycles of Dissemination and Thematic Reflection on Innovative Production Technologies

On January 15th, the presentation session of the Cycles of Dissemination and Thematic Reflection on Innovative Production Technologies, recently launched by the PRODUTECH R3 Mobilizing Agenda, was held. The first session was held in an online format and, focusing on the ESG theme, was attended by Viviana Pinto, Sustainability Consultant and Professor at Porto Business School.

The initiative was presented by Sofia Veloso Ferreira, who underlined that the date also marked the beginning of the first Cycle of Dissemination and Thematic Reflection, followed by three face-to-face sessions during the month of January and February that will complete the cycle addressing topics such as "ESG and Integrated Sustainability Strategy", "Sustainability Reporting and Directive", "Sustainability Indicators and Life Cycle Assessment".

At the end of the session, João Girão, highlighted that this new program is the responsibility of work package 17, focused on Capacity Building and Professional Training in Innovative Production Technologies, led by CENFIM, and has the close collaboration of work package 19 represented by PRODUTECH. He also mentioned that this is a set of initiatives aimed at raising awareness of sustainability practices for the Innovative Production Technologies sector, with the aim of promoting and facilitating the transformation sought within the scope of the PRODUTECH R3 Mobilizing Agenda. In fact, given the context of current sustainability policies, the value chain of the Production Technologies sector seeks to adapt to a more sustainable reality, aligned with ESG (environmental, social and governance) principles.

These cycles are prepared to raise awareness and empower participants in the development of fundamental strategies to promote this change, mitigating environmental, social and economic impacts. This will be followed by four more cycles that will take place throughout the year, each of them also with four sessions, and which will address major topics such as Circular Economy in Production Technologies, Ecodesign and Raw Materials in Industry, Technologies for Decarbonization in Industry and Cybersecurity and Industrial Security. This new program is being promoted under the PRODUTECH R3 Mobilizing Agenda – Recovery, Resilience and Reindustrialization, already mentioned above, and which constitutes the Mobilizing Agenda of the Production Technologies Sector for Reindustrialization, aiming to induce a structural change in this cluster, enabling it to explore the significant investments that the industry will make with the green and digital transition, reducing external technological dependence, increasing the added value generated in the country, thus contributing to a profound change in the specialization of the Portuguese economy.

The PRODUTECH R3 project - Mobilizing Agenda for the Production Technologies Sector for Reindustrialization, is funded by the European Union under the NextGeneration EU program through the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) and the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP - www.recuperarportugal.gov.pt).
